International Scientific Conference

„ADVANCED RAIL TECHNOLOGIES”


On 15-16 November 2017, there was held the 6th International Scientific Conference titled Advanced Rail Technologies, organized on a cyclical basis by the Railway Research Institute together with the Faculty of Transport, Warsaw University of Technology.

The guests of honour at the opening of the conference included, inter alia, Andrzej Bittel, the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction, Ignacy Góra, the President of the Office of Rail Transport (UTK), Marianna Jacyna , the Dean of the Faculty of Transport, Warsaw University of Technology and other guests from national and foreign academic and research centres.

This year’s conference sessions had a slightly different form from previous years. Namely, the two-day programme was divided into five plenary sessions and, for the first time, a poster session, which enjoyed a great popularity among the participants.

The conference gathered about 120 attendees, the speakers including. Among them were university  representatives, i.e. University of Technology from Warsaw, Cracow, Silesia, Gdańsk, Poznań and the Warsaw School of Economics. There were also present the representatives of the Rail Vehicles Institute “Tabor”, as well as pupils from Railway Technical Secondary School no.6 in Siedlce.

The Railway Research Institute hosted also representatives of public administration offices such as UTK, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction as well as railway companies, production and service businesses connected with rail transport, e.g. Bombardier Transportation, PESA Bydgoszcz S.A., Mabo Sp.z o.o., Alma S.A., Hutrem Serwis S.A., Control Process S.A., Koleje Mazowieckie - KM Sp. z o.o., PKP PLK, PKP S.A.. The conference was also attended by guests from Byelorussia, the Czech Republic, Russia and Ukraine.

The conference covered the following research areas: Railway traffic and railway operation, Rail transport infrastructure, Railway control-command and signaling and ICT, Traction and rail vehicles, Material engineering and recycling in rail transport. Altogether 30 lectures were delivered and 26 posters from Poland and abroad were presented. The articles prepared for the conference will be  published in scientific journal “Problemy Kolejnictwa” (Railway Reports), issued by the Railway Research Institute.
