ProtectRail final demonstration at IK

The final demonstration of he EU FP7 project ProjtectRail was presented between 8 - 11 October 2013 at the IK Test Track Centre near Żmigród.


After three years of work, the EU project PROTECTRAIL, which aims at improving security through better protection of railways and trains and reducing disparity in security between European railway systems, its final demonstration wad held from 8 – 11 0ctober 2013 in Zmigrod, Poland (45 km from Wroclaw).

Based on the needs of the operators and on risk assessments, PROTECTRAIL developed real-life scenarios in which the security solutions provided by the industry partners of the project were tested. The tests that took place at Instytut Kolejnictwa's Test Track Centre near Żmigród  which included situations that operators face, such as intrusion, lost luggage and CBRNE detection.

The focus was on demonstrating the added value of an integrated and combined approach to security in rail transport using state-of-the-art technologies.
